Geopointe

Using Check-ins

Geopointe check-ins allow users to record when they have physically visited a location inside Salesforce1. It's a great way to show physical visits versus phone calls. It also gives you the ability to check out, and record the amount of time spent on the visit.

There are two ways to perform a check-in. Depending on how your administrator set up your system, you'll be able to do so either directly on the Salesforce1 Map or from a record. Both have their advantages, and your administrator likely set it up in whatever way made the most sense for your business model.

Check-in from the Map

To check in from the Geopointe map, you will want to first A) be on the Map page in Salesforce1 and B) have already performed a search

To check-in, tap on one of your search results. Then, tap on the white bar at the bottom of your screen; your available options/actions become visible. Tap the Check-In icon.

The next screen is where you create the check-in. It will load your current location, allow you write a note, and share it to your Chatter feed. When done, tap the Check in button.

Once you're done with the check-in, tap Close and it will return you to the map.

Check-in from a Record

To check-in from a record, you need to be looking at a record detail page in Salesforce1. You can just navigate to one like you would normally in SF1, or you can use the map to get there by tapping on a search result, and tapping the View Record button.

Once on the record page, you need to tap the Check in action, located at the bottom. Its icon is a small map pin inside a green square. If it's not featured on the main page, click the [...] Show More button to see all available actions.

The next screen is where you create the check-in. It will load your current location, allow you write a note, and share it to your Chatter feed. When done, tap the Check in button.

Once you've checked in successfully, it will return you to the record page.

Check Outs

If your company has activated Check outs, you perform them the same way. Note that a Check out can only be done following a check-in.

From the Map
To perform a check out from the map, the process follows the same pattern. Once you're looking at the record action options, you just tap the Check out button instead.

From a Record
To check out on a record, it's the same process as the Check-in, but instead its icons is a red map pin. When you've completed the check out, tap Save and you're done.

If you try and check out before creating a check-in, you will receive an error similar to the following:
